Chapters promoting 50 Shades of Grey makes me sad. Why?

I love fanfiction, I write fanfiction, but under no circumstances is it acceptable to publish fanfiction by copy-replacing names and claiming it's original work. ESPECIALLY not when Turnitin is stating a similarity index of 89%.
You can claim your work is original but the fact is you intended to base things off pre-existing characters. Sure, they may have more personality but originally, the thought was to use them.
I'm not going to touch the content as my opinion on Twilight is less than impressed but I don't condone this sort of thing on any level. There's that one self-publishing company reaching out to fanfiction writers and I can only see it bringing unwanted attention to fandom and increasing the number of authors who feel the need to ban fanfiction for this exact reason.
They did the work to create a universe/characters and you loved it enough to want to write about it and play in that sandbox. The least you could do is respect the author enough not to go making money off of it. Write your own damn universe and characters.

So they've gone and removed click-wheel games without any attempt at informing people of this.
I paid money for those, you know.
I bought two and only one shows up in iTunes for my Nano. So there goes something I paid for into the void (and now very glad I never convinced myself to buy some of the others). Not very accommodating to people who still own older versions of your products, are you? I have one that was released 4 years ago and another that was 3 years ago. But they're screwing people who bought Classics and the 5th gen Nanos which are both only 2 years old.
I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't starting loading up my iPod for my trip. Doesn't make it right.
Anyway, flight is tomorrow at 7:30am, so probably need to be at the airport by around 6am. I didn't have a chance to shower as the power went out due to the wind storm earlier nor did I get to finish packing all my little things, so those will have to be done in the morning, therefore I am going to bed.

Summary: An amazing performance.
Longer version, or as long as I can make it before wanting to go to bed as I have to get up for work in 7 hours: I've always been pretty indifferent towards Amanda Palmer, as I don't follow her music and all I knew about her was through other people. But, I will say that she seems a lot of fun and she's quite talented and her and Neil together are really fucking cute. lol
Neil Gaiman is classic and English and very good at what he does. Love that accent of his and it is just as lovely in real life as it is on an audio book. He's also not half bad at singing. :) And I heard a few poems and short stories I'd never read before and they were terribly amusing.
The night was a little sombre overall due to AP having visited Occupy Vancouver earlier in the day and learning about the girl that died. She sang a cover of Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You into ihe Dark" in honour of her.
Couldn't stay to get my book signed as it was already 11:40 by the time they finished and with 1100+ people in the theatre, I had no idea how long it would take to get to them. They also said there would be no time for pictures or chatting which is something I would prefer to have, so signatures can always wait for another visit.
But it was overall a very fun performance with lots of laughter and I'll be happy to get my copy of the audio from tonight once the shows are all done, knowing I was there.

In other news, yay free candy from my boss. At 3pm he came to my office and went, "It's 3 o'clock. I think it's about snack time!" and I was like, "lol, what?". Turns out he'd went and bought a bunch of post-Halloween chocolates this morning for super cheap (like $2 a bag) and had it all sitting in his car.
We had a grand total of two kids come to our door last night. And those two kids? Were our neighbour's kids (goddamn spell check, I will use a 'u' if I want to). lol
I don't know why.

It's so cold! Hi, Vancouver weather, I see you've come back.
Yesterday was so dreary that I could actually feel my mood change and it felt like it should be a Saturday afternoon or something.
Also, my ear hurts. I don't know why. It does that once in a while. It's all sore inside and I can feel it when I swallow and as a result there's a sharp jabbing pain in my head. :( Maybe the weather change caused it. It usually goes away after a couple days.
I really don't feel like working. At least I got my desk mostly cleaned up - it's been a total mess these past few weeks. lol
I read One Salt Sea in two nights. If I didn't have to work, I would have stayed up all night to finish it on Tuesday. It's such a solid series - I have yet to find a scene where I feel bored or where I have to force myself through it.
